September Best Bits 2017

Hi guys. Today we're back with a trusty best bits post, this time for September. Autumn is now in full swing and I'm not going to lie I'm loving it. The leaves, the colours, cosy jumpers and hot chocolates. What more could you want?

1. Leaves
Now that the leaves have started to turn beautiful autumn colours, the world just looks so pretty. You can pretend to be a 4 year old and run around kicking the leaves. It might be stupid, but it's so fun.

2. Cosy jumpers
In Autumn it gets a lot colder (in England anyway), so that means warm jumpers. They're so cute and so warm and so amazing. It's like being wrapped in a soft blanket, but one you can actually wear. I just love them.

3. The weather
I think the weather is just perfect in the beginning of Autumn. It's cold, but you can get away with not wearing a coat; a jumper will do the job. The only think that's not so great is the rain, which is plentiful in England (yay!).

4. Warm food
Autumn also brings the start of eating stews and curry which give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. When you're cold on the outside, a warm meal does wonders.

August Best Bits 2017

So, the summer is finally over and now we are in autumn. If I'm honest I did really enjoy most of this summer (apart from my holiday :). The weather was awful, not much was going on, to me it didn't really seem like summer. It was just... meh. Fine. Whatever. I didn't really care for those 3 months.

But now, onto what this post is supposed to be about. The best bits of August. Lets see if I can try to scrape a list together.

1. Holidays
Lots of people go on holiday in August. It's the school holidays and the only time to actually get some sun here in England. You can stay here in the UK or go abroad and get some real summer. I went to Italy just after the massive heatwave, so I missed the super hot weather (good thing, I'm white as a sheet) but still got some pretty nice heat.

2. No school!
If you're of school age and living here in the UK, August means the summer holidays. And that means no school for 6 weeks! I mean it's not quite comparable to the 3 months (!!) that America gets, but I'll take it.

3. Barbecues
For me the summer means barbecues. And I do love barbecues. Summer is the best time to just sit and eat nice food with your family. While the sun starts to set above your head and you relish in the delicious smells of a cooking barbecue, life seems perfect.

January's Best Bits 2017

The first year of the month is finally over! Now we can get on track once more and complete our goals and really feel like it is now 2017. So we've rounded up everything we loved from January,

1. New year... new me!
Well this one is old and a bit cliche but it has to be included. It can mean anything for anyone and for all us crafters it means better organisation and better ideas. I am definitely trying to get better ideas and one of my goals is to post on this blog a bit more - hopefully at least once a week.

2. Warm Stews
Ok so it's not really related to craft but in the winter a hot stew is absolutely amazing! It warms you up on the inside and the outside and can be a life saver when it's frosty outside.

3. Bath Bombs
I adore bath bombs and they are even more incredible when you have one in a steaming bath when it's icy outside the window. They're still great in warmer weather but it can feel a bit stuffy it it's too warm so I always cherish baths I have in the winter.

A beautiful bath bomb from Bomb Cosmetics
4. Body Scrubs and Moisturisers
So over Christmas I got a lot (and I mean a lot) of moisturisers and body scrubs so I decided that I may as well use them and see what they can do. My favourite one have the Soap&Glory body butter and it has transformed my extremely dry knees and elbows. It has worked wonders! I highly recommend it.

March's Best Bits 2016

I know this is a bit late but a compiled a few things for this month. The weather has only just started to get warmer and it's almost the middle of April.

1. Easter
Well this obviously has nothing to do with craft but I can't not put it when it's March. I especially love all of the chocolate you get to eat and I am currently still on my Easter holidays which I am thoroughly enjoying.

2. Gardening and Decorating
The time has come again where the weather gets warmer and you need to start decorating and gardening again. Why not put up some bunting and plant some pretty flowers to make your garden look wonderful, big or small.

3. Painting
As the weather is getting better, you can finally sit outside and paint some wonderful countryside scenes. I definitely use some watercolours as they create a really nice effect.

I'll add some pictures on really soon.

February's Best Bits 2016

This month, it's been starting to get a little warmer for me (like from 5 to 8 degrees) and I've been going outside a bit more. Anyway, I've compiled a few different things for this month.

1. Arts Award
So, not long ago M started her Arts Award and for anyone creative this is a really interesting thing to do. Have a look at our dedicated post about it here.

2. How about making some beautiful clothes for the upcoming spring season.

3. You could have a go at making some bright spring themed pillows to give your room a bit of spring flair. You could do the same thing with flutterbys or bunting. Both of these projects can be found in the book 'My Sewing Machine' which I talked about in January's best bits.

4. Patch work pieces
You can buy these really cheaply from bargin fabric shops but also from places like hobbycraft. You can use them to make all sorts of things like patch work quilts or bunting.

January's Best Bits 2016

Well it's a new year so I think its time for another best bits.

1. Embroidery wheel
I have been loving doing embroidery of peoples faces. This can be hard but using an embroidery wheel really helps to keep the fabric still and achieve life like images (not).

2. My sewing machine
This is a fantastic book that I received for Christmas. It is by a wonderful author called Jane Bull. She has written three other books in this series of sewing books. The ideas in the book are brilliant and the instructions are very clear. It also gives some great advise about how to use and look after your sewing machine.

3. Reeves watercolours
I really love these watercolours even though it's not sewing. The colours and quality is fantastic. We have been using them at school and they're falling apart but the colours are still great as they are really easy to clean. I have about three of these watercolours so if your looking for some they are definitely a good call.

4. finger knitting machine
Now, this may seem crazy but I love finger knitting. I find that it a great thing to have in the car but my wool often gets really tangled so I made this. The wool is wrapped around the top and it won't get tangled. there is also two pockets. One made for some scissors and another for keeping the finished finger knitting in. It was really easy to make and it makes transporting finger knitting so much easier. You could also change it for normal knitting.

June's Best Bits 2015

June is a wonderful month: It's the end of spring and start of summer and Father's day comes up.

1.Handmade Father's Day Gift
Father's Day is wonderful time to celebrate your dad or grandad. Why not give him a beautiful handmade present. I made mine a wallet.

2. Garden Decorations
You're going to be in the garden a lot more because of the weather. Try decorating your garden in style with some bunting.

3. Summer Clothing
With the weather being hotter it's lovely to wear a light skirt or a pair of shorts that you have made yourself. Why not give it a go!

May's Best Bits 2015

Some of these are a bit random but just go with it...

1. My first sewing book (edited by Susan Akass)
This book has loads of ideas and I love the way they rank the projects.

2. My first quilting book
This is the same as the other book but full of quilting. There are some easy projects and some harder ones.

3. Finger knitting
This is great for people how like to do things with their fingers!

4. Doodle book
This is a bit random but it is a type of book. They are full of pages where you can let your self go and doodle everywhere.

Please send us any ideas for June's best bits!

April's Best Bits 2015

There are not many best bits this month but I would like to share a few projects you should try...

1. Rag doll
They are great for using up old bits of fabric especially clothes.

2. Crafts beautiful
This a great crafting magazine full of fab ideas. Although it is £4.99, you get loads for your money. I do tend to find that it is full of paper crafting and not so much textiles.

3. Spring Crafts
Spring has just come and why not decorate your room with spring flowers or blossom.

March's Best Bits 2015

It's E and I'm going to be giving this month's sewing best bits. From those brilliant sewing books we just can't get enough of; the little (or big) projects you just have to try; to the best things we've done or seen.

1. Felt Friends From Japan
I picked this book up at the library and I find the felt animals (there are purses, charms and other things to) to sew so cute.

2. Fabric coasters
Obviously I'm going to have to put the fabric coasters in as it was this blog's first post. They're a very quick and easy project and are so useful to

3. Patchwork cushions
M made one of these a few weeks ago and it looked so good. They are quite simple and you only need scraps of fabric to make them. M came up with the patten herself and it's really easy change the cushion design, shape and size each time

4. All Sewn Up
This is another book that M got from the library. She says she wants to do practically everything in the book so it must be good.

5. Tangle of Thread
Finally, this blog. This blog is one of March's best bits. It hasn't been set up for very long but I'm sure it will become better and better as the days go on.

P.S Sorry the post's a bit late.
